Nottingham Organic Gardeners

Welcome to Nottingham Organic Gardeners.

We are a voluntary organisation, a friendly group in Nottingham, open to all.

We aim to promote organic and sustainable gardening, and a more localised food culture.

We have an Organic Demonstration Garden at Whitemoor Allotments in Nottingham and hold regular talks, workshops and events with an organic theme.

Please note we cannot endorse or recommend specific gardening suppliers, businesses or growers.

SPRING LECTURE – Greener Gardening - Arit Anderson

Greener Gardening – how we can garden and grow greener in our changing climate to ensure sustainability and maximum biodiversity.

Tickets £12 / £8
Click here to buy from the Squire Performing Arts Centre website

Doors open at the venue from 12.15pm for a 1pm talk.

Having spent 25 years working in the dynamic industries of retail fashion and creative events, Arit found that the visual nature of fashion and the healing properties of her therapies could beautifully meld in the garden. This became a passion and drove her to explore the unique relationships between plants, people, and place. Working as a presenter for BBC’s Gardeners’ World, many satellite shows such as Chelsea Flower Show, and writing for national publications has enabled Arit to publicise issues about the future of gardening in an ever-changing climate, and to promote solutions to the wider public.

Annual Potato Day

The POTATO DAY for Nottingham is BACK!

Entry fee is £1

Entry is free to members of Nottingham Organic Gardeners. To join the group officially and be a paid up member ask for details on the day and entrance fee will be refunded.

Our annual Potato Day gives local people the opportunity to buy seed potatoes by the tuber and choose from over 40 varieties. Our members enjoy this busy community day and bring home-made produce to sell and cakes to eat.

Where possible we source organically grown, heritage and unusual varieties.

Potato Days are held throughout the country so everyone can choose varieties suitable to their soil and taste, and we organic gardeners can select for blight, scab and pest resistance. We sell potatoes by the tubor so you can try as many varieties as possible for the cheapest price. Only 18p per tuber this means you can choose lots of varieties and pay a great price.

Potato Day is held at the end of January to give plenty of time for chitting and an early start if the weather allows!

Additional information available. Lists of varieties will be posted here and emailed out to our members closer to the date.
